lyrics

The sun’s still shining
So baby dry those tears,
Let’s raise a glass
To our 'wasted years'
Who cares we never left this town
You like the smell of spring too much anyway
To be wearing pant suits, telling half truths
Locked in a board room in some busy city,
Where on a clear day you might see
Two seagulls, if you’re lucky

Ain’t it a shame how the fast the time flies
When you’re in love with being alive
I never climbed a mountain or deep sea dived
But with you I’m still smiling so wide

Well that novel never did get finished
But you’ve made a million stories of your own,
And always sent the kids off to dream
with dragons or jungles that your mind had grown.
We don’t live in a mansion
Haven’t a gardener or a maid
Yet, between the furnace breaks and peeling paint
I kind of like this place,
I think that we’ve really got it made!

Ain’t it a shame how fast the time flies
When you’re in love with being alive
I never backpacked through Europe or saw the sites
But with you I’m still smiling so wide

To catch your eyes I see
The only thing worth holding
Some of our dreams didn’t come true
But I wouldn’t call them broken

Ain't it a shame how fast the time flies
When you’re in love with being alive
I never hit a home run, never even threw a strike
But you with you, I’m still smiling so wide

Look at me darling,
We didn’t waste a single second of our lives
